About this site
A fair thing to ask of anything telling you about your tax bill: where did these numbers come from, and who benefits if you believe them?
What this is
A tool, not an opinion. It applies the Spanish Tax Agency's published tax scales to the numbers you type in, and shows you the result. There is no expert view here and no advice being given — just arithmetic on official figures, done in your browser.
It is not written by a tax adviser, a lawyer or a gestoría, and it does not speak for one.
Where the figures come from
Every rate and threshold was taken directly from the Spanish Tax Agency's own published manuals for tax year 2025 — read one page at a time, not copied from other websites. The links are here so you can check any figure yourself rather than take this site's word for it:
- National income tax scale (gravamen estatal)
- Regional income tax scales (gravamen autonómico) — one page per region
- Special regime for posted workers — rates and duration
- Impatriate regime, Article 93 — requirements
Last checked against these pages: 2026-09-16.
Going to the source turned out to matter. Several widely-shared English-language guides, checked against these official scales, quote top marginal rates that are wrong by several percentage points. Spanish income tax is assembled from two separate scales — one national, one regional — and a lot of explanations quietly use only one of them.
One figure that is weaker than the rest
The six-month deadline for filing form 149 could not be confirmed on any page of the tax agency's own website. It comes from the income tax regulation and is stated consistently by Spanish tax professionals, but it does not have the same backing as everything else here. The page it appears on says so too, rather than presenting it with false confidence.
What this site cannot do
It cannot tell you what to do, and it cannot answer questions about your situation. A calculator cannot see your contract, your family circumstances, your assets abroad or the exact wording on your Social Security registration — and in this regime those are precisely the things that decide the answer.
If you write in asking whether you qualify, or what you should file, the honest answer will be that nobody here can tell you. That question belongs to a qualified Spanish tax professional who can look at your papers. Everything on this site is there to help you arrive at that conversation knowing what to ask.
How this site is paid for
It isn't. There are no adverts on any page, no affiliate links, no sponsored placements, no lead-generation form, and no arrangement with any law firm or gestoría. Nobody has paid to be mentioned here, because nobody is mentioned here.
That is worth stating plainly, because most pages explaining this regime are written by firms who want you as a client and do not say so. If it ever changes, this page will say so before the fact rather than after.
Found a mistake?
Write to [email protected]. If a figure here is wrong it is worth real money to whoever reads it next, so corrections get taken seriously — send the source you are working from and it will be checked against the tax agency's pages.
